Another success for the RIED team with the PI, Mark Price, taking up his EPSRC Fellowship supported by Rolls-Royce, Spirit Aerosystems, the High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HVMC) and the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC). The Fellowship programme, called Dealing with Evolving Constraints in Design Systems for Net Zero ( DECIDE for Net Zero ) is focused on developing new understanding of constraints in design systems and how they both influence and can be used more effectively in dynamic design contexts as exemplified by the challenge of net zero. The technical work builds on RIED and provides the opportunity to focus on a problem of fundamental importance in engineering design.
The Fellowship is an EPSRC Open Plus Fellowship with a community champion role in which Mark is working with the industrial partners and innovation centres (HVMC and AMIC) to develop pathways, activities and tools to help the transition to digital design tools. To help this further the Fellowship is partnering with the recently announced Digital Design Network Plus (D2N+) to help reach as widely and diversely as possible. The D2N+ network, led by Professor Robinson (QUB RIED), was funded under the exciting EPSRC call for networks to tackles Tomorrow’s Engineering Research Challenges (TERC). More information on D2N+ can be found at Tackling tomorrow’s engineering research challenges – UKRI
