The RIED Thread 3 Loughborough Team 2025 Conference Season News

Over the recent months the Loughborough team have been out and about presenting at a number of international Conferences of note.

PhD Student Mudassar Khalil presented at the “Additive Manufacturing Meets Medicine, AMMM 2025 Conference” from 15-19 June that took place in Luebeck, Germany. Mudassar’s paper was titled “Design and analysis of mechanical and permeability properties of stochastic scaffolds for biomedical applications” and can be found via

Then in September, both PhD Students Shangmou Yang and Mudassar Khalil presented at the British Society for Strain Measurement BSSM 20205 Conference at the Imperial College, London, UK. This 19th annual conference organised by the British Society for Strain Measurement brought together leading international researchers from academia and industry to showcase research and innovation in experimental mechanics. Then to round things off, our new Research Fellow, Dr Janelle Tarum presented a poster at the ESB 2025 Conference in September in Turin, Italy. This was the 34th Annual Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials. The poster title was “Can osteogenesis be enhanced by optimising the topology of porosity enhanced titanium scaffolds in perfusive conditions ?”. A big well done to all three of the team that took part and to those behind the scenes at Loughborough who contributed to the work and the paper and presentations – a great team effort.
