Our Researchers

Research Associate

University of York

Farajollah (Fred) completed his PhD in Computer Science at Ulster University in 2024, where his research focused on multi-objective evolutionary algorithms through the integration of reinforcement learning and hybrid structures to enhance optimization processes. This expertise is further complemented by his work as a research assistant at the National Center for Food Manufacturing (NCFM) at the University of Lincoln, where he developed predictive models and applied machine learning techniques, using data visualization and GIS-based analytics to generate actionable insights.

His research interests include nature-inspired algorithms and data-driven solutions for complex system optimization. Since November 2024, Fred has been working as a Research Associate at the University of York within the REID program, to focus on challenges related to optimizing complex systems.

As of 24th April 2026, Farajollah (Fred) will be progressing from RIED into a new role at the University of Derby, where he will be working in the field of Intelligent Human-Machine Interaction on a collaborative research project in partnership with Toyota Manufacturing UK. This work will focus on Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis, where Fred will be using real-time data to design and develop prototype systems that enable intelligent, intuitive interactions between Humans and Machines.
