Queen’s announces eleven honorary graduates recognising outstanding contributions to society, including Professor Mark Gillan (Chair of RIED’s Strategic Governance Board) – (June, 2026).

Queen’s have recognised eleven honorary graduates this summer who have made outstanding contributions in a range of areas, including community, business, public service and science, innovation and engineering, including our RIED’s Strategic Governance Board Chair, Professor Mark Gillan who was made Doctor of Science in Engineering for distinction in engineering

Announcing this summer’s honorary graduates, Queen’s President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Ian Greer, said: 

“This year’s graduates have made exemplary and unique contributions in their chosen fields.  

“Their work spans an incredibly broad range of disciplines, from entrepreneurship, policing, journalism, charitable trusts, and public policy to engineering and psychology. 

“They have applied their knowledge and used their experiences to make a real impact in a variety of areas, above and beyond what might normally be achieved while inspiring others and we are honoured to recognise their contributions.”
