Chris McMahon is former Professor of Engineering Design at the University of Bristol, and is currently Senior Research Fellow and Senior Teaching Fellow at that University. He has also worked at the Technical University of Denmark, and at the University of Bath, where he was Director of the Innovative Design and Manufacturing Research Centre and led the multi-university KIM Project exploring knowledge and information management for long-lived engineering artefacts. He is a mechanical engineer with wide research interests in engineering design, especially in engineering informatics and the role of design in engineering. Author of a widely used textbook on computer-aided design and manufacture, he has also published widely in design journals and conferences, and has served and continues to serve on a number of conference committees and journal editorial boards. He is Fellow and past-President of the Design Society, Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Engineering Designers and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
